Brooke Shields to join cast of Army Wives

Brooke Shields is joiningArmy Wives. She's not just pretty, she's a complete bada** on the show, playing Air Force Col. Kat Young, a pilot and a real ball-buster who stirs things up on base for everyone. Col. Young, the new Joint Base Marshall, especially butts heads with Army Gen. Michael Holden. Since the Air Force and Army share the base, the two will struggle against each other in an effort to gain the highest position possible and give their military branch a leg up on base.

Shields is just another one of the recent additions made to the cast of the show.

Also joining the cast is actor/musician Jesse McCartney. The "Beautiful Soul" crooner will play the eager Private Tim Truman, who leaves behind his farmgirl wife, Holly , while on his first deployment. Will he prove himself to his superiors and move up in the ranks, or is Pvt. Truman destined to remain a grunt?

The base will also welcome new souls like singer/actress Ashanti and actress Torrey DeVitto. Ashanti will play a strong-willed mother of three who can keep her kids and her husband in line just as easily as any drill seargent. DeVitto plays Maggie Hall, an ex-Army Airborne truck driver who gave up her Army career after marrying Staff Sergeant Eddie so she can focus on raising his 14-year-old daughter and her 10-year-old son.

The new season will begin by dealing with the aftermath of the tragic plane crash that ended last year's season 6 finale and will say good-bye to Army Wives vet Kim Delaney.

Army Wives' season 7 premieres March 10 at 9e on Lifetime.
