Blonde bombshell by day, murderer by night?Carrie Underwood doesn't strike most of us as being a vengeful lover, does she? It's not as though she recorded a few songs about taking revenge before... right?
In her latest music video for "Two Black Cadillacs," she takes a violent turn for the worse when she finds out that she was the other woman.
The video features two gorgeous blonde women, and Carrie exhibits some killer calf muscles when attending the funeral of a loved one. The irony and subsequent beauty is derived from the powerful lyrics that tell it all:
"Two black Cadillacs driving in a slow parade Headlights shining bright in the middle of the day
One is for his wife, the other for the woman who loved him at night
Two black Cadillacs meeting for the first time."
The visual backdrop aided by these eerie lyrics makes for an intense watch. Carrie and the wife of the man they loved conspire to give him the ultimate justice: death. Is it fair? Probably not. But it's female empowerment at its darkest.
They channel their pain into a vengeful plan where they lure him into a dark alley. It's borderline humorous the way they then taunt him with a car. Scorned and embarrassed, they take a proactive outlook, but it's convoluted and twisted. The symbolism of using a car to intimidate him seemingly draws attention to the way he toyed with them. How does he die? You have to watch to find out!
Their sociopathic lack of remorse is unnerving and tragic. Must have been one hell of a man to push them this far.
